I've had some issues with some Gen6 and Gen7 Intel and AMD laptops that are having this issues, indeed even on the latest drivers and Windows 10 20H2. Long story, but would not be surprised if this is the underlying cause as manufacturers usually install a lot of crap. However these particular laptops were not imaged, but rather installed in a hurry using the existing windows install. I have always preferred windows to manage the wireless directly. Just for reference, I don't think the laptops are using any 3rd party wireless management software, but I will check. So I don't believe it's a windows 10 issue per se. I normally sell Fujitsu laptops and I never had the problem on a Fujitsu.

I do agree that it seems to be more specific to the wireless drivers/bugs and I recall another one of my clients having the same issues some years ago with again HP laptops. If it is not going to sleep, I will try the power management settings on the wireless. These settings should have applied to the new laptops, but it is possible that this has not happened.

Because the laptops are used in schools, many years ago, I set the laptops to never go to sleep and for the screen to remain on for 45 minutes (which is longer then the idle time during a lesson, but not longer than one lesson). I will check with staff members whether their laptops are going to sleep. Never occurred to me that it might be the power settings.
